Ministry of Manpower Says It is Still Investigating Rumors of Tiktok and Tokopedia Employee Layoffs
JAKARTA - Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Manpower (Kemnaker) Faried Abdurrahman Nur Yuliono said that the Industrial Relations Mediator team is still tracing rumors of termination of employment (PHK) against Tiktok and Tokopedia employees.
"The team from the HI (industrial relations) mediator is also investigating," said Faried when contacted in Jakarta, Saturday.
He said that as of Saturday (4/7) his party had not received reports regarding rumors of layoffs of Tiktok and Tokopedia employees that were widely circulated.
So said Faried, his party will trace the information and is expected to receive official information from Tokopedia on Monday.
"There have been no reports to us regarding the rumor of layoffs of Tiktok employees. Hopefully, there will be news on Monday, including from Tokopedia," he said.
Previously, the Special Advisor to the President of the Republic of Indonesia for Employment and Labor Welfare, Said Iqbal, stated that he would directly follow up on the issue of layoffs (PHK) at Tokopedia and TikTok, to obtain facts before the government took further steps.
"We must not only hear from one side. The government must get a complete picture of what is really happening," said Said Iqbal when confirmed in Jakarta, Saturday.
Said Iqbal said that this step was taken to obtain the facts in full before the government took further steps.
"I am arranging time to meet directly with workers and the company," he said as quoted by Antara.
