Polri Medical Check-up for Residents Affected by Jatiwaringin Landfill Fire in Tangerang
TANGERANG - The Police Medical and Health (Dokkes) team provided health examination services for residents of Rajeg District who were exposed to the smoke from the Jatiwaringin Final Disposal Site (TPA), Mauk, Tangerang Regency, Banten, which occurred since Tuesday (30/6).
"Health services are provided as a quick response to the impact of the spread of smoke from fires felt by residents in a number of areas around the Jatiwaringin landfill," said Tangerang Police Chief Kombes Andi Muhammad Indra Waspada Amirullah in Tangerang, Saturday, July 4, reported by ANTARA.
The Dokkes team from the Tangerang Police Unit has opened a health service for affected people since Friday (3/7). This step was carried out at the evacuation location in Kampung Jungkel, Tanjakan Mekar Village, Rajeg District.
During this activity, the public receives blood pressure checks, consultations with general practitioners, and the provision of medicines and vitamins. "In addition, the distribution of masks to reduce the risk of health disorders due to exposure to smoke," he said.
Indra said that health services are part of the commitment of the National Police to help the community, especially in emergency situations. "We want to ensure that affected people have access to health services quickly," he said.
In addition, his party appealed to residents who began to feel complaints such as coughing, shortness of breath, eye irritation, and other health disorders to immediately go to a health facility, and not force activities outside the house if not urgent.
"Prevention is much better so that the condition does not get worse," said Indra.
In addition, the Tangerang Police personnel also continue to patrol and secure the residential areas of residents who have been evacuated, and coordinate with the local government and related agencies in handling the Jatiwaringin landfill fire.

Previously, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that about 30 percent of the area of the fire in the TPAJatiwaringin had begun to extinguish and was under control on Friday (3/7).
Director of Emergency Operation Control Coordination of BNPB, Brigadier General TNI Djohan Darmawan, said that entering the 4th day of emergency control operations at the TPAJatiwaringin, the optimization of two water bombing helicopter fleets is still being carried out to accelerate the blackout.
"Meanwhile, we can see that this morning the wind is too strong. These officers also work at their maximum during the morning, afternoon, and evening," he explained.
In maximizing fire control, his party has also deployed 18 fire-fighting fleets to comb through fire points that have not been reached by water bomber units.
"So it's the fourth day, we've brought in two water bombing helicopters, including 18 firefighters," he said.
