Police Arrest Former Employee Stealing at 22 Alfamart Lombok Stores

North Lombok Police, West Nusa Tenggara, revealed a theft case that allegedly occurred at 22 Alfamart outlets on the island of Lombok by arresting a former employee of the company.

North Lombok Police Chief AKBP Agus Purwanta said the suspect with the initials MS (28), a resident of Lingsar, West Lombok Regency, was arrested after an investigation into a series of theft cases at a number of Alfamart outlets.

"From the results of the preliminary examination, it was revealed that the person concerned was a former employee of Alfamart who was in charge of maintenance," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, July 3.

Meanwhile, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of North Lombok Police, Iptu I Komang Wilandra, said that 22 crime locations were spread across all districts/cities on the island of Lombok.

Four locations are in North Lombok Regency, three in East Lombok Regency, two in Mataram City, 10 in West Lombok Regency, and three in Central Lombok Regency.

"We are still investigating the possibility of another crime scene," said Wilandra.

The police are also investigating the alleged involvement of other parties because the suspect is suspected of not acting alone.

According to Wilandra, the suspect was arrested at his house in Lingsar on Wednesday morning. When he was about to be secured, MS ran away through the roof of the house, but fell from the ceiling while trying to hide.

"The wounds on the perpetrator were not because he was incapacitated by a shot, but because he fell while fleeing," he said.

He explained that the arrest was made after a report from the management of Alfamart, which was the last location of the theft.

The last action is suspected to have occurred on Wednesday (1/7) at the Alfamart outlet in Kayangan Village, North Lombok Regency.

In the action, the suspect allegedly stole various goods, including more than 100 packs of cigarettes of various brands, three packs of cigarettes, a number of small items, and 100 sheets of seals.

"From the victim's report, the losses from the alleged actions of the perpetrator reached Rp. 30 million," he said.

Currently, MS is being held at the North Lombok Police to undergo further legal proceedings.

Investigators charged the suspect with Article 479 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP) with a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
