Aceh National Road Starts Functional, Government Flashes Out Pemanen Reconstruction

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has ensured that all national roads in Aceh Province are now back in operation after being affected by the flash flood disaster at the end of November 2025.

As connectivity recovers, the government is also accelerating the permanent reconstruction of roads and bridges in dozens of points to ensure that transportation access remains safe and reliable for the community.

Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that the process of recovering post-disaster infrastructure in Aceh continues to show positive developments.

In addition to ensuring that all national roads are functional again, the PU Ministry is also accelerating the permanent handling of bridges that are still temporary.

"National roads have returned to 100 percent functional and permanent handling of regional bridges that are still temporary will be accelerated so that connectivity is fully recovered," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Friday, July 3.

"We also continue to coordinate with local governments, ministries/institutions and all related parties so that rehabilitation and reconstruction work can run faster and more integrated," he continued.

Through the Aceh National Road Implementation Center (BPJN), the PU Ministry is currently permanently handling 20 locations in the Aceh West and East Crossings corridors consisting of 15 roads and five bridges.

Meanwhile, in a number of sections, work is being carried out at more than one point of damage according to the conditions on the ground.

The work not only includes the rehabilitation and reconstruction of roads and bridges, but also slope reinforcement, river bank protection, structural work, and various other supporting works to minimize the risk of damage due to disasters.

One of the works that shows significant progress is the reconstruction of the Lawe Mengkudu I Bridge.

As of June 28, 2026, the work process has reached 83.72 percent and is targeted to be completed on July 31, 2026.

The permanent handling of the bridge was carried out by dismantling the old bridge affected by the disaster and replacing it with a new bridge that is safer and has better capacity to support the smooth mobility of the community.

The government emphasized that it would continue to accelerate the rehabilitation and reconstruction of post-disaster infrastructure through coordination with local governments and all stakeholders so that connectivity in Aceh could recover completely and sustainably.
