Building Digital Talent from Eastern Indonesia, Upbit Indonesia Strengthens Blockchain and Web3 Education

JAKARTA - The development of blockchain and Web3 technology opens up new opportunities for Indonesian digital talent. As the use of this technology in various sectors becomes more widespread, the need for human resources who have an understanding of blockchain, digital assets, and decentralized technology is also increasing. This condition shows that the development of digital talent is no longer just a need of the industry, but also an important investment in preparing Indonesia's competitiveness in the digital economy era.

Seeing the magnitude of this potential, equalizing access to education is becoming increasingly important. The potential for digital talent is not only in big cities, but also spread across various regions in Indonesia. Seeing this, Upbit Indonesia together with BlockDevId held a Financial Literacy and Blockchain Technology Seminar as well as a Smart Contract Development Workshop at the State Islamic University (UIN) A.M. Sangadji Ambon on June 22-23, 2026. This activity is also supported by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of Maluku Province as part of efforts to expand digital asset literacy and develop blockchain talent in eastern Indonesia.

The seminar was officially opened by the Head of the Maluku Province OJK, Haramain Billady, and was attended by around 120 students and general participants. On this occasion, the Maluku Province OJK delivered material regarding the importance of consumer protection in the digital financial asset ecosystem, while Upbit Indonesia discussed the development of the digital asset industry, blockchain technology, and career opportunities that are increasingly open in the Web3 era. The discussion was interactive with high enthusiasm from participants who wanted to understand more about the development of the digital industry and the opportunities offered in the future.

"Indonesia has great potential to become one of the important players in the digital economy in the region. However, this potential needs to be supported by talents who understand blockchain technology and are able to adapt to industry developments. Therefore, we believe that education must be more evenly accessible, including by students in various regions in Indonesia," said Resna Raniadi as CEO of Upbit Indonesia, in a statement, Friday, July 3.

"Before investing, it is important to understand that crypto assets are one of the investment instruments that have both opportunities and risks. Good investment decisions always start with sufficient understanding, not just following trends or information that is viral," said Resna.

According to Resna, there are still many assumptions that the blockchain industry only needs developers. In fact, as the digital asset ecosystem matures, talent needs also become more diverse, ranging from compliance, risk management, cybersecurity, business analysts, digital marketing, to community development.

As part of the series of activities, Upbit Indonesia together with BlockDevId also held a smart contract development workshop on the second day. Through this session, participants gained hands-on experience, ranging from understanding the concept of blockchain, creating a Web3 wallet, to developing a simple application based on smart contracts using Solidity. This approach is expected to provide a more applicable learning experience while introducing skills that are relevant to the current needs of the blockchain industry.

For Upbit Indonesia, education is not only aimed at introducing digital assets as investment instruments, but also opening up insights regarding various opportunities arising from the development of blockchain technology. As the adoption of this technology increases in various sectors, understanding of blockchain is considered to be one of the competencies that will be increasingly needed in the future.

"We believe that healthy industry growth must go hand in hand with improving the quality of its human resources. Therefore, Upbit Indonesia will continue to expand collaboration with universities, communities, regulators, and various stakeholders to provide more inclusive education, so that more and more young Indonesian talents are ready to take a role in building an innovative and responsible blockchain ecosystem," concluded Resna.
