Langkat Regent Arrested at Home During KPK OTT
JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) said that Langkat Regent Syah Afandin was secured at his home during a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) on Thursday night, July 2. He was taken from his home in Medan, North Sumatra.
"The regent was secured at his private residence located in the Medan area," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, July 3.
In the silent operation, Budi said Syah Afandin was secured along with seven other people. He will then be taken to Jakarta to undergo an intensive examination at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada.
In addition, in OTT, hundreds of millions of rupiah were found, which were allegedly the project fee from the private sector.
"This case is suspected to be related to bribes for projects at the Education Office and also the Langkat Regency Perkim Office and of course later it will also be investigated, investigated whether there are other receipts or gratuities made by the regent or state organizer in the Langkat area," he said.
Furthermore, Budi said that sealing in a number of locations had been carried out. "Then a search can be carried out, yes, to strengthen additional evidence in the legal process of this case."
