KPK Finds Hundreds of Millions of Rupiah During Langkat Regent's OTT, Allegedly Related to Project Fee

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) secured money while carrying out a hand-in-hand operation (OTT) in the North Sumatra region. The suspicion is that the findings are related to the project fee to be given from the private sector to Langkat Regent Syah Afandin.

"The team also secured evidence, including cash worth hundreds of millions of rupiah, which is suspected to be part of the project fee given by the private party to the regent," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Friday, July 3.

Budi said that in addition to securing money as evidence, the KPK also brought seven people from the silent operation. One of them is Syah Afandin.

"Then the parties who were secured in the three locations, the team conducted an initial examination at the Medan Police," he said.

"And this afternoon, one of them, namely the Regent of Langkat, was taken to Jakarta for further examination," continued Budi.

As for this OTT, the suspicion is that the money given by the private party is suspected of being related to the project bribe at the Education Office as well as the Langkat Regency Housing and Settlement Office.

"Of course, later it will also be investigated, investigated whether there are other receipts or gratuities made by the regent or state organizer in the Langkat region."
