Vrama Jogja Billiard Place Burns, Electrical Short Circuit is Suspected to be the Cause

YOGYAKARTA - Nine fire brigades (damkar) were deployed to put out the fire at the Vrama billiard hall in the Keparakan area, Mergangsan, Yogyakarta City, on Friday (3/7) morning.

Head of the Yogyakarta City Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) Taokhid said the nine damkar units were from Yogyakarta City, Sleman Regency, Bantul Regency, and Gadjah Mada University (UGM).

"The team from Damkarmat Yogyakarta we have lowered four main teams, then there is an additional team from the reserve personnel," said Taokhid as reported by ANTARRA, Friday, July 3.

According to him, the fire at the entertainment and cafe was reported to have occurred on Friday at 08.15 WIB. Damkarmat Yogyakarta then deployed personnel to the location of the fire.

"We received a report at the beginning at around 8.15 WIB and we immediately launched to the crime scene, and it turned out that the fire had already grown, and the smoke was also quite thick so we had difficulty determining the points of the fire," said Taokhid.

His party is trying to put out the fire which originated from flammable materials.

"About an hour ago for fire control. And this is still a process for screening so that it can be ensured that there are no embers that can potentially cause a fire," he said.

He said that the temporary cause of the fire was a short circuit, but for certainty, further investigation was still being carried out by the authorities.

"This is only a suspicion, based on that information, it is likely a power outage. But we can't be sure either, because it's not our authority to determine the cause," said Taokhid.
