Wamenko Pangan: Pemerintah Percepat Pembangunan KSPEAN di Kalteng
JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Food (Kemenko Pangan) has accelerated the development of the Food, Energy, and Water Security Center (KSPEAN) area in Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) to support national food security.
This is a follow-up to Presidential Instruction Number 14 of 2025 which tasked the government to prepare a center area for food security, energy, and water in Central Kalimantan.
The initial phase of development was carried out in six districts which were considered to have the greatest potential to support national food security.
Deputy Coordinating Minister (Wamenko) for Food, Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, said the project had actually started since 1995 and continued in 1999 and 2020. However, until now, the results achieved have not met the target.
"This process has been going on for quite some time, technically there are 3 phases that have been running and almost all of them have not produced satisfactory results. We are together with all the ranks of the relevant ministries including the Attorney General's Office to prepare steps in order to accelerate the development of KSPEAN in Central Kalimantan," said Hanif Faisol in Central Jakarta, Thursday, June 2, 2026.
His party will focus on areas outside the forest area and has available studies in 2020 from Bappenas and other ministries.
"So we make sure that this step can be carried out in detail, including supplementing it with national development risk management," he said.
Through the acceleration of the development of the Food Security, Energy, and Water Center (KSPEAN) area in Central Kalimantan, it is hoped that it will be in line with President Prabowo's vision.
"What is hoped for in the president's speech to build food security, we must really be serious. We build in this kind of condition. So that the development of KSPEAN is not only in South Papua but includes 4 important provinces," he said.
The development of KSPEAN includes one million hectares of former peatland projects in several districts of Central Kalimantan.
"We will focus on the 6 main districts as contributors who meet the potential for the construction of this KSPEAN," he said.
The target for the work begins in 2026. According to him, the parties from the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Public Works and others have moved.
"This year has started. But it needs to be coordinated more intensively. We will consult to be moved together so that the output is more optimal," he concluded.
