Menkop: The Red and White Kopdes Location that is Less Ideal is Not Up to 10 Units from 30 Thousand Buildings

JAKARTA - Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono said that complaints about the location of the Red and White Village/Village Cooperative (Kopdes) which were considered to be less than ideal in number were not up to 10 units out of about 20 thousand cooperatives that were being built by the government.

"If the number is calculated from all community inputs or those on social media, the number is less than 10 out of 30 thousand that are being built," said Ferry as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 2.

The statement was made following the circulation of a number of videos on social media highlighting the location of the Red and White Kopdes.

In a number of uploads, some Red and White Kopdes were considered to be in less strategic locations, such as on the slopes of hills, overlooking rice fields, next to other cooperatives, to being near the cemetery area.

He assessed that the findings only covered a small portion of the entire program so that it could not be used as a general picture of the implementation of the Red and White Kopdes development.

However, the Minister of Home Affairs stated that the government would follow up on each report through the verification and validation process before determining the next steps.

Ferry explained that the determination of the location of the Red and White Kopdes was from the beginning the result of a deliberation between the village community and the village government.

He said that if after verifying the location it was judged to be less appropriate, the government would coordinate with the community and the village head to find a solution.

"We will think about it, we will find a solution if it is considered to be less," he said.

When asked about the possibility of relocation, Ferry said the government had not made a decision and was still waiting for the results of joint verification with the relevant ministries, agencies, and local governments.

"Later we will think about it, we will find a solution. But it involves a verification process, validation involving the government, other institutions as well. We will consult with the village community and the village head as well," he said.

Ferry added that the construction of the Red and White Kopdes continues to show progress.

According to Simkopdes dashboard data as of July 2, 2026, of the 35 thousand cooperative outlet construction locations that have been verified, as many as 20 thousand units are currently entering the construction phase.

Meanwhile, around 14 thousand Kopdes Merah Putih have been completed 100 percent.
