Prabowo Accelerates Indonesia's Trade Cooperation with the Eurasian Region
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto sees opportunities for Indonesian trade with the Eurasian region as it opens up after Belarus completes the ratification of the Indonesia-Eurasian Economic Union or EAEU trade agreement.
In a joint statement with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace, Thursday, July 2, Prabowo said Indonesia was also completing the ratification process for the agreement.
According to Prabowo, this step will be a gateway for increasing trade and investment between the two countries.
Apart from trade, Indonesia and Belarus agreed to expand industrial cooperation through investment and joint ventures in the manufacturing, automotive, heavy vehicles, and agro-industrial sectors.
The two countries also launched the Indonesia-Belarus cooperation roadmap 2026-2030 which serves as a framework for bilateral relations over the next five years.
Prabowo said that the cooperation is expected to produce tangible benefits for the people of the two countries as well as strengthen Indonesia's economic relations with the Eurasian region.
