Head of Ponpes in Garut Suspected of Molesting Female Students Detained by Police
Garut - The Garut Police, West Java, arrested a man with the initials AN (45), the head of one of the pesantren pondok in Samarang District, Garut Regency, after being named a suspect in a case of alleged immoral crimes against a female student.
"The suspect has been detained at the Garut Police to undergo the legal process," said Head of the Public Relations Section of the Garut Police, Ipda Susilo Adi, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, July 2.
AN was named a suspect since June 23, 2026 after investigators increased the handling of the case from the investigation stage to the investigation based on the results of examinations of victims, witnesses, and suspected perpetrators.
"The arrest of the suspect has been since Tuesday, June 23, 2026," he said.
Susilo said that the investigators of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Garut Police were still completing the case file and ensuring that all legal processes were carried out in accordance with applicable regulations.
"The legal process continues," he said.
The case previously surfaced after the alleged immoral crime against a female student was widely discussed on social media. The victim's family then reported the incident to the Garut Police on May 16, 2026.
Since receiving the report, investigators have examined the victim, a number of witnesses, and the alleged perpetrator. In handling the case, the police also coordinate with the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) for assistance to the victim.
