Thousands of Kia Carnival are being recalled, fuel pipe may cause a fire

JAKARTA - Kia Australia has recalled 5,761 units of Kia Carnival produced in 2020 to 2025 in the country, due to a problem in the high-pressure fuel pipe nut area.

Quoting from the Drive website, Thursday, June 2, the affected vehicles are the 'KA4' generation models from 2020 to 2025, but may have been sold on a later date, and are limited to examples equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine.

The recall notice, filed with the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications, Sports and the Arts, states that the defect could potentially result in a vehicle fire.

"Due to production defects, high-pressure fuel pipe nuts may not be tightened with sufficient torque and may become loose over time," the report said.

This can lead to fuel leaks and, if there is an external ignition source, can result in a vehicle fire.

It is stated that vehicle fires can cause injury or death to vehicle passengers, other road users, or people around the scene of the incident or damage to property.

Kia Australia said affected vehicle owners will be contacted in writing to ask them to schedule an appointment with a dealer to inspect and replace the fuel line, at no cost.
