RI-Belarus Business Forum Bags US$500 Million Commitment, Prabowo Wants Value to Continue to Rise

JAKARTA - The Indonesian-Belarusian business forum resulted in a commitment to cooperation worth around 500 million US dollars or around Rp8.9 trillion assuming a rate of Rp17,800 per US dollar.

The value was revealed by Foreign Minister Sugiono ahead of President Prabowo Subianto's meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, July 2.

"If I'm not mistaken, the report was 500 million," said Sugiono.

He then confirmed the figure using the US dollar.

According to Sugiono, both heads of state assessed that the current value of trade and investment between Indonesia and Belarus was still far from the potential possessed by both countries.

Therefore, the two agreed that economic relations needed to be improved, both through trade and investment.

The meeting of the two heads of state will also discuss strengthening cooperation in a number of strategic sectors, especially food security, energy security, and the supply of fertilizer raw materials.

President Lukashenko's visit was a reciprocal visit after President Prabowo visited Belarus some time ago.
