Not Assembled in Indonesia, Changan Rely on Thailand to Supply Deepal S05
JAKARTA - Changan's latest product, the Deepal S05, is still imported intact from Thailand or Completely Built Up (CBU), which means it has not been assembled domestically. Bringing the model from Thailand is not without reason, Head of Marketing Changan Indonesia, Ridjal Mulyadi, revealed that the production facility was ready and running for the Deepal S05 model. "REEV in particular, which is marketed in Indonesia, we bring in CBU from Thailand," he said, when met in Kuningan, Jakarta, some time ago. Another factor that is no less important is geographical and demographic similarities. The conditions of the highway and the habits of using vehicles in Thailand are considered very similar to Indonesia.
This has its own advantages because manufacturers do not need to make major technical changes.
"So Thailand is already producing and the conditions and terrain of all kinds of Thailand with Indonesia are not too far away, so we don't have to make too many adjustments," he added. However, Changan Indonesia still matures the preparations by conducting a series of road tests (running tests) on local roads, which aims to see if there are adjustments that need to be made to match the market here (Indonesia). On the same occasion, Changan Indonesia Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Setiawan Surya, stated that the production of existing models is still imported from Thailand. "There has been no internal discussion. But it is not impossible that later the demand will be stable. Because the factory is to produce one car, it is hoped that it will be sustainable," he said.
