Beware, BMKG Forecasts Most Major Cities to be Cloudy to Heavy Rain
JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning in the form of the potential for light, moderate, and heavy rain, which may be accompanied by lightning and strong winds in various major cities in Indonesia on Thursday.
Quoted from the BMKG's official website in Jakarta, Praktirawan Miftah Ali explained in general that the convergence area extends in the North Natuna Sea, the South China Sea, the Sulu Sea, the Philippine Sea to the east, the west coast of West Sumatra, to the west waters of West Sumatra, from the waters north of West Papua to the northern Halmahera Sea.
According to him, this condition is able to increase the potential for rain cloud growth along the areas that are passed through convergence or confluence.
Therefore, it is estimated that several major cities will have the potential to experience moderate to heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds, namely in the Medan (North Sumatra), Tanjung Selor (North Sulawesi), and Mamuju (West Sulawesi) areas.
