Secretary of State Rubio Ready to Support Vice President JD Vance If He Advances in the US Presidential Election
JAKARTA - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is ready to provide support to J.D. Vance if the US vice president decides to run for the Republican presidential candidate for the 2028 US Presidential Election.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump reportedly reinforced speculation about the potential rivalry between Rubio and Vance, by asking his supporters who they wanted to see as his successor.
Trump also suggested they could be an "unbeatable" team.
The White House and the US State Department denied there was a rift between them. Rubio himself said the US foreign policy team continued to work together and "without drama", the report added.
The Republican Party must also choose a new presidential candidate before the election in November 2028, because according to the US Constitution, Trump can only serve two terms as president.
Among the potential candidates, Trump mentioned his cabinet members who might replace him, including Vance, Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and former US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem.
