3 NTB DPRD Members Charged with Bribery 1.5 Years in Prison

MATARAM - The public prosecutor has charged three defendants who gave bribes to dozens of members of the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Representative Council (DPRD) with a prison sentence of 1.5 years each.

"Demands that the panel of judges impose a sentence of 1.5 years in prison on the defendant Hamdan Kasim," said Prosecutor Budi Tridadi Wibawa when reading the charges at the Corruption Crime Court at the Mataram District Court, Wednesday, July 1.

In addition to imprisonment, the prosecutor demanded Hamdan Kasim pay a fine of Rp. 100 million, with three months in prison as a substitute.

The prosecutor stated that Hamdan was found guilty of active bribery as charged by the public prosecutor.

The indictment refers to Article 605 paragraph (1) letter a in conjunction with Article 127 paragraph (1) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustment in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001.

The prosecutor also asked the panel of judges to confiscate all the money given by the defendant to members of the NTB DPRD as part of the bribery crime for the state.

In his consideration, the prosecutor assessed that the actions of the defendants did not support efforts to eradicate corruption and tarnish the image of the regional legislative institution.

"The actions of the defendant as a representative of the people have damaged the image of the NTB DPRD," said the prosecutor.

Meanwhile, what is relieving is that the defendants have never been convicted and have family dependents.

The same demand was also filed against the defendants Indra Jaya Usman and Muhammad Nashib Ikroman. Specifically for Indra Jaya Usman, the prosecutor also demanded payment of compensation of Rp. 400 million in lieu of six months of substitute imprisonment.

Responding to the demands, the three defendants through their legal advisors stated that they would file a defense note or pledoi.

The panel of judges headed by Dewi Santini then scheduled the reading of the pledoi trial on July 8, 2026.

"If it is not ready next Wednesday, you are welcome to the next week," said Dewi.
