Food security is one of the main focuses of the report of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo to President Prabowo Subianto in the 80th Police Day Ceremony at the Satlat Brimob Polri, Cikeas, Bogor Regency, Wednesday (1/7).

In the midst of global uncertainty due to climate change, trade wars, technological disruption, and geopolitical conflicts, the National Police stated that it would take a role in supporting the food self-sufficiency target, which is a priority program of the government.

According to the National Police Chief, the National Police not only oversees the distribution of government assistance, but also accompanies farmers through the utilization of productive land, nutritious food yard programs, to facilitate access to People's Business Loans (KUR) in cooperation with Himbara banks.

Together with the Ministry of Agriculture, local governments, and 30,548 farmers' groups, the National Police are encouraging the sustainable cultivation of corn in potential land of 1.37 million hectares.

"Until the second quarter of 2026, mass harvesting has been carried out with a total production of 5.7 million tons," said Listyo.

Similar developments were carried out in Karanganyar, Temanggung, West Lampung, and Tanggamus with a total land area of 127.5 hectares.

The National Police Chief said the National Police had also begun to implement a technology-based approach in the agricultural sector. Among them are the use of superior seeds, precision organic fertilizer made from ginkgo seeds, mobile rotary dryer harvesting tools, processing of corn cob waste into briquettes, to coal-based fertilizer which is claimed to be able to improve soil acidity and restore nutrients.

In addition, the National Police has built 29 food security warehouses to support the storage of crops.

According to the National Police Chief, cross-sector collaboration is the key to maintaining national food availability in the midst of evolving global challenges.
