Attending the 2026 Bhayangkara Day Commemoration, Puan: The National Police Must Continue to Prove Its Commitment as a Servant of the People
JAKARTA - House of Representatives (DPR) Chairwoman Puan Maharani attended the 80th Anniversary of Bhayangkara Day in 2026. At the age of 80 for the National Police, Puan also hopes that all police officers will continue to strive to be good servants of the community.
The 80th anniversary of the National Police was held at the National Police Brigade Training Center (Satlat), Cikeas, Bogor, Wednesday, July 1. This event was also attended by President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, along with the Red and White Cabinet. A number of former presidents and vice presidents were also present.
"To all the ranks of the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia, which I am proud of, I wish you a happy 80th anniversary of Bhayangkara in 2026," said Puan, Wednesday, July 1.
"The National Police must continue to prove its commitment as a protector, guardian, and servant of the community," he continued.
According to Puan, this commitment is in line with the theme of the Police Anniversary this year, '80 Years of Service, the Police for the Community'. He also reminded that according to the constitution, the Police have the main task of maintaining public security and order, enforcing the law, and providing protection, protection, and services to the community.
"Therefore, Bhayangkara Day 2026 must be a momentum to strengthen the legitimacy of the National Police as an institution that is at the forefront of maintaining security, enforcing the law, and serving the community in the midst of increasingly complex social dynamics," said Puan.
Furthermore, Puan reminded that the success of the National Police in the modern era is no longer measured solely by the number of cases that have been revealed or the perpetrators who have been arrested.
"The much more important measure is the extent to which the public feels the presence of the state through the police service which is fast, professional, transparent, and provides legal certainty without distinguishing the social and economic backgrounds of citizens," he said.
Puan also assessed that strengthening the professionalism of the National Police needed to be followed by an increase in public accountability systems. Because, he said, public trust is the main capital of the law enforcement institution.
Therefore, Puan said that every success in law enforcement, public services, and internal improvement must be built through open and measurable mechanisms. "And of course it can be held accountable to the community and the state," added Puan.
Puan also hopes that the National Police will further strengthen its position as a state institution that is able to maintain national stability at the age of 80. At the same time, the National Police will become a partner of the community in providing a sense of security, legal certainty, and justice which is the foundation of Indonesia's development towards a Golden Indonesia.
On the other hand, Puan gave appreciation to all members of the National Police who worked with dedication. Including police officers assigned in vulnerable areas, both at home and abroad.
"Once again, congratulations on celebrating the 80th anniversary of the National Police for all police personnel. Dirgahayu ke-80 Kepolisian Negara Republik Indonesia," concluded Puan.
