Commuter Line Users at JIS Station Soar 300 Percent During the Weekend

JAKARTA - KAI Commuter recorded high public enthusiasm for the Tanjung Priok Commuter Line service at the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) Station in the first week of its operation.

The number of users on weekends even jumped up to 300 percent compared to weekdays.

VP Corporate Secretary of KAI Commuter Karina Amanda said on weekdays the number of users who go up and down at JIS Station is relatively stable, namely an average of around 250 people per day.

However, the user volume increased significantly during the weekend due to the high activity of the community in the Jakarta International Stadium area.

"This is triggered by community activities towards the stadium area for sports or just enjoying the area around the stadium," Karina said in a statement, Tuesday, June 30.

Based on data for the period from 22 to 28 June 2026, JIS Station recorded a total of 4,203 user movements.

Of this number, 2,555 users traveled from JIS Station, while 1,648 users arrived at the station in North Jakarta.

Karina said the peak volume of users occurred on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

On that day, the JIS Station served 1,271 users in a day, consisting of 821 users who went up and 450 users who went down.

Along with the operation of the JIS Station, KAI Commuter together with the government also implemented a special tariff program of Rp. 1 for users of the Commuter Line Tanjung Priok who get on and off at the JIS Station during the period from 22 to 28 June 2026.

"This program has proven to be successful in attracting service users to mobilize in an interconnected manner. This incentive program recorded a total utilization of 1,232 users throughout the period," he said.

According to Karina, the high public interest shows that the need for public transportation based on the rail in the North Jakarta area continues to increase.

The presence of the JIS Station is expected to further facilitate public access to the stadium area, public spaces, and other activity centers.

"We will also continue to coordinate and collaborate with all parties to gradually improve facilities and services for Commuter Line users at JIS Station. KAI Commuter also appeals to all users to maintain the available service facilities for mutual convenience," said Karina.
