JAKARTA - House of Representatives (DPR) Chairwoman Puan Maharani expressed her condolences following the death of 5 participants in the Basic Military Training (Latsarmil) of the Indonesian Development Movement (SPPI). He also encouraged training for prospective managers of Red and White Village/Red and White Fisherman Village Cooperative (KDKMP/KNMP) to focus on managerial training only.
"We in the DPR express our deepest condolences regarding the victims in the implementation of this," said Puan at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, June 30.
As is known, 5 participants in the SPPI program of the Merah Putih Village Cooperative (Kopdes) and the Merah Putih Fishermen Cooperative died while participating in basic military training (latsarmil). Puan reminded that this kind of incident should not happen again.
"Don't let this happen again," he said.
Puan also supports the steps of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) which stopped the SPPI Basic Military Training (Latsarmil) format and replaced it with the National Defense and Managerial Training program. The evaluation was carried out by the Ministry of Defense following the death of five participants in the SPPI KDKMP/KNMP Latsar due to health problems.
Puan advised that the evaluation be carried out thoroughly to ensure that the program runs optimally. "That an evaluation has been carried out, yes we hope that it is an evaluation that can be carried out thoroughly," said Puan.
The former Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs appealed that training for SPPI participants be carried out according to the tasks they will carry out. Including for prospective managers of the Red and White Kopdes and the Red and White Fishermen's Cooperative, which according to Puan, should focus on managerial activities.
"The series of things that are done should be more focused on management only to be able to carry out the implementation later yes as expected. So the evaluation is thorough and we will see what evaluations will be carried out. Later we will follow up. We will see first," said Puan.
