Maintain Purchasing Power, Prabowo Disbursed Stimulus of IDR 26.34 Trillion and Focused on Food Assistance
JAKARTA - The government is preparing an economic stimulus package worth Rp26.34 trillion in the second semester of 2026 with a focus on strengthening assistance for the community to maintain purchasing power amid global economic uncertainty.
Head of the Government Communication Agency (Bakom RI) Muhammad Qodari said that all stimulus packages were direct instructions from President Prabowo Subianto to keep people's consumption maintained and at the same time support national economic growth in the second half of this year.
"All these stimuli are direct instructions from President Prabowo to maintain people's purchasing power, encourage domestic consumption, and protect people from the impact of global uncertainty," Qodari said in a statement, Monday, June 29.
According to Qodari, the largest portion of the stimulus is directed to direct assistance to the public, especially vulnerable groups. The government will distribute food assistance to 33.24 million beneficiaries during the period from July to September to help the public face potential price fluctuations for basic necessities.
In addition to food assistance, the government has also prepared a program to increase employment opportunities through the National Internship Program for 150,000 college graduates, vocational training for 220,000 high school and vocational school graduates, and training for 50,000 workers affected by layoffs.
In the transportation sector, the government provides various incentives to ease the burden of the community while encouraging mobility during the school holidays and Christmas-New Year holidays. The incentives include a 30 percent discount on Pelni train and sea fares, exemption from port services for transportation crossings, and government-funded value-added tax (PPN DTP) facilities for air transportation.
"This incentive is expected to encourage community mobility as well as create a multiplier effect for the economy," explained Qodari.
On the other hand, the government also provides support to the business world so that economic activity remains maintained. This support is provided through zero percent import duty facilities for LPG imports for the petrochemical industry and plastic raw materials, as well as a special final income tax (PPh) rate of 1.5 percent for writers as a form of support for the creative industry.
Qodari emphasized that the government would oversee the implementation of all stimulus packages to be targeted and provide real benefits to the community.
"The government will continue to monitor the implementation of all these policies so that they run according to plan, are targeted, and provide real benefits for all levels of society," he said.
