Israeli Drone Attacks Kill More Gazans Despite Ceasefire

JAKARTA - Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, Palestine, have again claimed lives, adding to the number of those killed, despite a ceasefire that has been in place since October last year.

Gaza health officials said Israeli drone strikes killed three civilians and wounded several others on Monday.

"Three people were killed and several others were injured when an Israeli drone attacked a group of civilians," the Al-Aqsa hospital said in a statement, citing Al Arabiya from AFP (29/6).

Meanwhile, Gaza's civil defense agency, which acts as a rescue force under Hamas, said the attack hit an area in Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

Israeli military sources confirmed the attack.

"The IDF is indeed carrying out an attack targeting jihadist terrorists. The results of the attack are still being assessed," the source told AFP.

At least 1,041 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire came into effect on October 10 last year, according to the territory's health ministry, which operates under Hamas's authority and its figures are considered reliable by the United Nations (UN).

Meanwhile, a medical source in the Gaza Strip announced on Monday that the number of deaths and injuries due to the Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023 has risen to 73,058 and 173,488, quoted from the Palestinian news agency WAFA.

Israel and Hamas accuse each other almost daily of violating the ceasefire, while Gaza remains mired in bloodshed as progress toward ending their war permanently stalls.
