Kudus Receives Ivermectin, The COVID-19 Drug Pioneered By Moeldoko

JAKARTA - The COVID-19 drug Ivermectin, which was pioneered by the General Chair of the Indonesian Farmers' Association (HKTI) General TNI (Purnawirawan) Moeldoko, has begun to be distributed by the Kudus Regency government in hospitals and health centers to contain the spread of the virus.

"When we submitted the report on Ivermectin to Mr. Moeldoko, he immediately gave directions so that the distribution permit would be taken care of so that it could be produced domestically and no longer need to be imported," said Vice President of PT Harsen Laboratories Sofia Koswara in a written statement received in Jakarta, reported by Antara , Thursday, June 10.

After receiving direction from the General Chair of HKTI, PT Harsen Laboratories immediately took care of it and managed to get a distribution permit from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

At first, Ivermectin was not widely known by the public. However, now it is circulated and produced in its own country.

After obtaining a distribution permit from BPOM, it was Moeldoko who officially spearheaded the distribution to the public which began in Kudus.

This is also because Kudus is currently a red zone area for COVID-19 transmission.

Based on data from the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 in Kudus Regency as of Wednesday (9/6) afternoon, the number of patients who were confirmed positive and hospitalized were 437 people and 1,509 people undergoing independent isolation.

Responding to the emergency situation of victims who continue to fall in Kudus Regency, General Chairperson of HKTI Moeldoko acted quickly to pioneer the spread of Ivermectin which is touted as a drug that can fight COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Kudus HM Hartopo said that his party had distributed Ivermectin to the community.

It was also stated that the total assistance received by the Kudus Regency Government was 2,500 doses.

"We distribute to hospitals and health centers," he said.
