Suspension Bridge Built In Banten, Lebak and Pandeglang Residents Don't Need to Turn Around
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) is building four bridges in Lebak and Pandeglang Regency, Banten, this year.
The four bridges include the Inten Jaya Suspension Bridge, the North Cigoong Suspension Bridge and the Bagu Village (Ciminyak) Suspension Bridge in Lebak Regency as well as the Cibungur Suspension Bridge in Pandeglang Regency.
Minister PU Dody Hanggodo said that the suspension bridge is an infrastructure that provides direct benefits to the community.
"The suspension bridge provides direct benefits for the community. Mobility becomes easier, the distribution of agricultural products is smoother, and access to public services is more open," said Dody, quoted from a written statement, Monday, June 29.
The four bridges will be built in March-April 2026 with a length of 40 to 80 meters.
As of Thursday, June 25, 2026, the construction of the entire bridge is still ongoing with varying progress.
The Inten Jaya Suspension Bridge in Lebak Regency, which has a main span of 80 meters, has reached a physical progress of 26.67 percent. The bridge was built to reduce the travel time of the community, which has had to detour through a longer route.
Meanwhile, the Cibungur Suspension Bridge in Pandeglang Regency with a length of 80 meters recorded a physical progress of 19.25 percent.
The bridge will connect Tegal Papak Village, Pagelaran District, with Cibungur Village, Sukaresmi District, so that people's access between regions becomes easier, safer and more efficient.
The Cigoong North Suspension Bridge in Lebak Regency, which is 40 meters long, has reached a physical progress of 26.80 percent. The bridge will facilitate community access to schools, health facilities, markets, and facilitate the distribution of agricultural products for residents in Salasih, Nagreg, and Paranje Villages.
In addition, the Kampung Bagu Suspension Bridge (Ciminyak) in Lebak Regency with a length of 40 meters has reached a physical progress of 23.50 percent. The bridge will connect Kampung Bagu, Ciminyak Village, Muncang District, with Cikaung Village, Sukamarga Village, Sajira District, which has been separated by the river.
The existence of the bridge is expected to shorten travel time and increase the safety of people's journeys.
The presence of the bridge is expected to reduce the travel time of residents who have had to detour due to rivers, ravines or hills.
The construction of the four suspension bridges is also aimed at improving connectivity between villages, villages and sub-districts in Banten, as well as facilitating community mobility and supporting economic activities and basic services in rural areas.
The infrastructure is intended for pedestrians, two-wheeled vehicles, and ambulances in emergency conditions.
The government also targets that all the construction of the suspension bridge will be completed according to schedule so that the benefits can be felt immediately by the community and support the equitable development in areas that still have limited access.
