Rantis Car Blocked, Police Need 1.5 Hours to Evacuate Pati Regent Sudewo Out of Court
SEMARANG - Police officers took about 1.5 hours to evacuate the Semarang Police Tactical Vehicle (rantis) carrying the inactive Pati Regent, Sudewa alias Sudewo, out of the Semarang Corruption Court, Central Java.
This happened after the mass of supporters of Regent Sudewa blocked the rantis when they were about to leave the court for the age of the trial with the agenda of the interim ruling.
Reported by ANTARA, Monday, June 29, the crowd blocked the vehicle carrying Sudewa after a riot between supporters and a prison guard from the KPK.
The commotion began when Sudewa was taken out of the courtroom at around 10.15 WIB to a prisoner car that was prepared in front of the court.
The prison guard from the KPK allegedly pulled Sudewa to get into the prisoner's car when the non-active regent was going to greet his supporters.
The riots occurred before Sudewa was transferred to the Semarang Police Headquarters to be brought back to the Semarang Detention Center at around 10.30 WIB.
The crowd blocked Sudewa's vehicle and demanded the KPK officer who allegedly committed violence to apologize.
The police officers then negotiated with the support coordinators from Pati Regency.
Dalmas officers from the Semarang Police were deployed to the location to support security for the action in front of the Semarang Tipikor building.
After waiting for about 1.5 hours, officers evacuated Sudewa using the Semarang Polrestabes stretcher at around 12.00 WIB.
After Sudewa was taken back to the detention center, the police brought the KPK prisoner escort officer named Rusli to meet the crowd and provide clarification on the misunderstanding that occurred.
During the trial, the court rejected Sudewa's objection and asked the public prosecutor to continue the case.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Semarang PN, Hadi Sunoto, said today's incident would be an evaluation in the implementation of the Pati Regent's corruption trial in the future.
"The evaluation is clear, it is still being coordinated with the court chairman," he said.
Hadi also could not confirm whether the next trial would be held online or moved its location.
The inactive Pati Regent, Sudewa, was tried at the Semarang Corruption Court for allegedly receiving bribes and gratuities from the implementation of a number of projects in DJKA with a total of Rp. 3.8 billion.
In addition, Sudewa was also charged with receiving Rp. 2.4 billion in the process of filling village apparatus positions in the district which occurred in the period 2025 to 2026.
