Foreign Minister Anis Matta Strengthens Indonesian-Croatian Diplomacy through the Dubrovnik Forum and Strategic Meeting

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Wamenlu RI) M. Anis Matta strengthened Indonesian diplomacy with Croatia in the series of working visits last week.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anis, visited Croatia on June 24-27 to represent the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia at the Dubrovnik Forum 2026 and strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Croatia.

The forum, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, carries the theme "The Age of Multipolarity: Many Directions, One Future" and is a strategic forum for leaders, policymakers, and international figures to discuss various global challenges, ranging from geopolitical dynamics, international security, economic resilience, to the future of multilateral cooperation in the midst of increasing global multipolarity, quoted from the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Monday (29/6).

On the sidelines of the forum, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs held a bilateral meeting with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs of Croatia, Frano Matušić.

Both parties discussed various agendas to strengthen bilateral cooperation, including increasing trade and investment, education, digitization, tourism, the defense industry, and Croatia's support for Indonesia's interests in the European Union region.

Indonesia also proposed a number of concrete initiatives, including the establishment of a regular business forum, the development of an integrated religious tourism package, logistics cooperation through the use of the Rijeka Port, and film industry collaboration involving the creative industry players of both countries.

The meeting resulted in a number of important understandings, including the acceleration of the finalization of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the placement of Indonesian migrant workers in the hospitality sector, Croatia's support for Indonesia's accession process to the OECD and the completion of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA), as well as a joint commitment to expand economic and educational cooperation.

Both parties also exchanged views on the development of Indonesia-EU relations and the importance of collaboration between developing countries and middle-income countries in maintaining international stability amid global uncertainty.

During the same series of visits, the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs paid a courtesy visit to the Grand Mufti of Croatia, Aziz Effendi Hasanović, at the Islamic Center Zagreb.

In the meeting, the two discussed global geopolitical developments, the condition of the Islamic world, strengthening the network of Muslim communities, as well as the importance of interreligious dialogue and religious moderation.
