Congratulations, Indonesia Men's Volleyball Team is the Champion of the AVC Men's Cup 2026

JAKARTA - The Indonesian men's volleyball national team made history by winning the 2026 AVC Men's Cup after defeating South Korea with a landslide score of 3-0 (34-32, 25-16, 25-23) in the final match which took place in India, Sunday (28/6).

"Alhamdulillah, it feels like a dream. Many people doubted this team, but my friends answered it with extraordinary achievements, even surpassing the federation's target," said assistant coach of the Indonesian men's volleyball team, Nur Widayanto, who was received in Jakarta.

In the final match, coach Reidel Toiran made a number of changes in the player line-up. Rama Fazza was trusted to fill the position of Fauzan Nibras, while Putra Hidayatullah replaced Ahmad Gumilar. As for Alfin Daniel, Boy Arnez Arabi, Hendra Kurniawan, and Farhan Halim remained the main choice from the start of the match.

Indonesia had a fierce resistance in the first set. The South Korean players' hard serve made the Red and White team's attack pattern not develop so that the opening set was tight before finally being won by Indonesia with a score of 34-32.

"In the first set we were surprised by the Korean player's service which was difficult. As a result, our attack was not optimal and easily blocked by their block," said Nur.

Entering the second set, the Indonesian game increased significantly. The aggressive service released by Boy Arnez Arabi and Farhan Halim was able to put pressure on the South Korean defense so that Indonesia dominated the game and won 25-16.

"Starting from the second set and onwards, many of our players' serves made it difficult for the opponent, especially from Boy Arnez and Farhan Halim. From there, our blockers can score points, while the backcourt players get defensive balls that then become counterattacks," said Nur.

In the third set, South Korea again put up a fight, but Indonesia was able to maintain the lead until the end of the match with a 25-23 victory and securing the title of the 2026 AVC Men's Cup.

Nur also praised the decision of coach Reidel Toiran who was considered to be able to read the course of the match, especially when he put Rama Fazza in place of Fauzan Nibras.

"No less important is Coach Toiran's brilliant strategy. He put Rama Fazza in place of Nibras who underperformed today. Thank God Rama was able to produce many points through attacks and serves. The change was really successful," he said as quoted by Antara.

The title is a historic achievement for the Indonesian men's volleyball team and confirms the development of national volleyball achievements at the Asian level.
