The three suspects who were arrested were initials RE (48), BW (44), and RB (46). RB is known to be a State Civil Apparatus (ASN) who serves as Head of Service and Training of the Jambi Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
The disclosure of the case was the result of an investigation conducted by the Jambi Police Narcotics Sub-Directorate I Opsnal Team based on information from the public regarding alleged narcotics transactions in Jambi City some time ago.
Dewa said the disclosure of this case began with a report from the community, which was then followed up through a series of investigations and from the results of the development, the team managed to secure three suspects along with evidence of hundreds of ecstasy pills.
"Currently, all suspects are still undergoing the investigation process and we continue to develop the case to uncover the possibility of other networks involved," said Kombes Pol Dewa Made Palguna.
This case began when the Jambi Police Sub-Directorate I Opsnal received information about an alleged narcotics transaction in Lorong Sepakat, RT 29, Eka Jaya Village, Jambi City.
After conducting an investigation for several days, officers finally carried out a raid and in the operation, initially the police secured the suspect RE in a house in the area.
During the search, officers found a shopping bag stored in the middle room closet. Inside were three packs of Kerang brand ecstasy pills and one pack of Marvell brand ecstasy pills, which after being counted amounted to 536 pieces.
In addition to ecstasy, the police also seized a number of plastic bags, digital scales, mobile phones, and other items suspected of being used in the narcotics distribution activity.
From the results of the examination, RE admitted that he had obtained the ecstasy pills from suspect BW, who was then successfully secured at his in-laws' house in the Jalan Marsda Abdul Rahman Saleh area, South Jambi District.
Investigators then returned to develop after BW admitted to getting the narcotics from RB, an ASN official, who was then also a police officer, was able to secure RB while at a cafe in the Jalan H. Adam Malik area, South Jambi District.
From the results of the investigation, it was found that RB was an ASN who served at the Jambi Directorate General of Corrections.
In addition to securing the three suspects, the Jambi Police Narcotics Division also seized a number of evidence in the form of several packets of ecstasy pills, digital scales, a number of mobile phones of various brands, ATM cards, plastic bags, shopping bags, and one unit of Honda Supra motorcycle.
"We are committed to eradicating the illicit circulation of narcotics without discrimination. Anyone who is proven to be involved will be processed according to applicable laws. We are also still investigating the origin of the evidence and the possibility of a larger network," he said.
Currently, the three suspects and all the evidence have been secured at the Jambi Police Headquarters to undergo further legal proceedings.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Jambi Regional Office (Kakanwil) of the Directorate General of Corrections (Ditjenpas), Irwan Rahmat Gumilar, when contacted, admitted that one of his subordinates had been secured by the police regarding the alleged drug abuse.
"Our attitude is clear, we will definitely support and respect the legal process carried out by the Jambi Police," said Irwan.
According to him, the Ditjenpas has a strong commitment, does not tolerate drug abuse for employees in the Immigration and Penitentiary Ministry (Kemenimipas) and currently a temporary dismissal letter from the post for the suspect has been issued by the ministry.
