Fishermen's Boat Race Celebrates the 80th Anniversary of Bhayangkara Day in the Thousand Islands
JAKARTA - In commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Bhayangkara Day, the Thousand Islands Police held a traditional fishing boat race (Speed Race) on Harapan Island, North Thousand Islands, and the Thousand Islands Police Cup 2026 fishing competition on Tidung Island, South Thousand Islands.
The Head of the Thousand Islands Police, AKBP Argadija Putra, said that the selection of a maritime-themed competition was inseparable from the characteristics of the Thousand Islands as a maritime region.
In addition to preserving the coastal community tradition, the Regional Police continued, the activity is also expected to be able to raise the potential of marine tourism as well as encourage the local community's economic growth.
"Thousand Islands has a strong identity as a maritime area. Therefore, we want Bhayangkara Day to be celebrated through activities that are close to people's lives," said AKBP Argadija when confirmed, Sunday, June 28, 2026.
The Police Chief hopes that through this activity, it can strengthen togetherness and introduce the potential of Thousand Islands to a wider community.
The activity was attended by the Head of the Thousand Islands Police, TNI elements, and the Thousand Islands Administrative Regency Government.
The presence of all these elements is a strong symbol of the synergy between institutions.
"This activity is a series of the 80th Bhayangkara Day which we have packaged together with the community. Fishing and traditional fishing boat racing are not only a competition, but also a means of strengthening the relationship between the National Police, TNI, local governments, and all elements of society in the Thousand Islands," he said.
Through the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of Bhayangkara Day, the Kepulauan Seribu Police emphasized its commitment to continue to provide services, protection, and care to the community.
