Syaharani and Bandung Jazz Orchestra Lead the Sea of Choir at the 2026 Gedebage International Jazz Festival

BANDUNG - A sea of choir occurred when Syaharani and the Bandung Jazz Orchestra performed at the 2026 Gedebage Jazz Festival International which took place at the Summarecon Mall Bandung on Saturday, June 27.

Thousands of spectators who filled the main stage area of Sawangra Courtyard were unable to hold back from singing along when the hit song "Can't Help Falling in Love" was performed.

At some moments, even Syaharani was made to hand over the microphone to the audience, because of how loud their choir was.

"Applause for the audience of the Gedebage Jazz Festival International," said Syaharani after the song was finished, greeted by the roar of cheers and applause from the audience.

"Senang vanget kalau bisa nyanyi bareng begini," sambungnya.

As for his performance with the Bandung Jazz Orchestra, Syaharani performed a number of jazz standards, including "Theme from New York, New York", "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps", "Night and Day", "Cry Me A River", "My Funny Valentine", and "Deed I Do".

In between performances, Syaharani also took the time to introduce the Bandung Jazz Orchestra led by Brury Effendy, where most of its members are students and high school students.

"The Bandung Jazz Orchestra is only three years old, but it plays super duper compact, and is very impressive," said Syaharani.

The 54-year-old singer also expressed his hope that more performances or music festivals would provide a stage for the Bandung-based jazz ensemble.

"Hopefully we can have more programs that are really big like this. Because it's really rare," said Syaharani.

"And I want to give them a thumbs up. Because this big number is not only difficult, it is also expensive, because there are many people. So hopefully many parties will provide support for programs like this, so that there will be more in Indonesia, for the future," he added.

In addition to Syaharani ft. Bandung Jazz Orchestra, the main stage of the first day of the Gedebage Jazz Festival International 2026 also presents Barry Likumahuwa & The Rhythm Service, Saung Angklung Udjo, Andrea Cui and Julian Chan ft. KLCBS Project, Indra Lesmana Sydney Reunion, and Dewa 19 ft. Virzha.

The Gedebage Jazz Festival International 2026 is still going on until today. The main stage will feature B.A.E, Takahiro Miyazaki, Krakatau, Erwin Gutawa tribute to January Christy, Jazzbois, to Maliq & D'Essentials.
