Progress of the People's School Development in Kuansing Riau Reaches 76 Percent

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) said that the progress of the People's School in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province, has reached 76 percent and is targeted to be operational in July 2026.

Head of the Riau Region Strategic Infrastructure Implementation Unit of the Ministry of PU, Muhammad Yudi Prasetya, said that his party continued to accelerate all construction work so that it could be used for teaching and learning activities in July.

All work is carried out gradually while prioritizing the quality of development.

"The main building of the elementary school level, which consists of 18 classrooms, has now entered the roof installation stage and is almost complete. Meanwhile, the junior high school building is in the process of preparing for the installation of the roof frame, while the main building of the high school has completed the installation of the roof and is now entering the finishing stage," said Yudi as quoted by ANTARA, Sunday, June 28.

He said that the construction of other supporting facilities, such as houses of worship, dormitories for boys and girls for elementary, middle and high schools, kitchens, and other supporting facilities, is also being rushed.

His party targets that the main building for the learning process has entered the final stage by the end of June 2026.

"We are working with our partners to continue to optimize the work so that all targets can be achieved according to schedule. Thus, the main facilities of the People's School can be immediately utilized to support teaching and learning activities," he said.

The Kuansing Regency People's School Complex consists of 20 units of buildings which include learning spaces for elementary, middle, and high schools, boarding houses for male and female students, teachers' dormitories, houses of worship, kitchens, and various other supporting facilities.

Acting Governor of Riau SF Hariyanto asked for the completion of all construction to be completed by August 8, 2026. Thus, the learning process for new students can be carried out immediately according to the schedule that has been planned.

"God willing, we can pursue this target. We are committed to presenting a safe, comfortable, and decent People's School so that parents feel calm when their children attend boarding education at this school," he said.

"The People's School in Kuansing Regency will serve the education levels of elementary, junior high, and high schools. The facility is designed to accommodate around 450 students with an integrated boarding education concept," he added.
