PAM Jaya Targets 100 Percent Clean Water Service by 2029, Jakarta Water Hero as a Way to Encourage Residents to Leave Ground Water

JAKARTA - PT PAM Jaya again held the Jakarta Water Hero 2026 as a form of appreciation to customers and stakeholders who are considered to contribute to the development of piped water services. Behind the award, PAM Jaya also emphasized its commitment to accelerating the equalization of access to clean water while reducing the dependence of the people of Jakarta on groundwater.

PAM Jaya President Director Arief Nasrudin said that the award, which entered its fourth year, was part of the company's efforts to build closeness with customers while encouraging more residents to switch to piped water services.

"This is part of our appreciation for PAM Jaya customers. This is the fourth year, a series that we have really made to convince and ensure that customers play a full role in the development of the PAM Jaya company," said Arief at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, quoted Saturday, June 28.

According to Arief, the expansion of the piped water network continues to be carried out so that the community is no longer dependent on the use of groundwater, which has been one of the causes of land subsidence in Jakarta.

"We continue to maximize clean water of drinking water quality to every house in Jakarta. Hopefully, people will stop using groundwater when the pipanization of PAM JAYA has entered the house," he said.

To accelerate the addition of customers, PAM Jaya also provides various facilities through a new connection program for a number of customer groups.

"Customers of the 2A1 and 2A2 tariff groups who must be assisted by us are given free connection. Then the 2A3 and 2A4 groups are also given connections at very reasonable prices," said Arief.

In addition to awards to customers, Jakarta Water Hero 2026 is also an appreciation event for ministries, state agencies, local governments, communities, and corporations that support the target of expanding the coverage of clean water services in Jakarta.

Arief added that PAM Jaya also continued the program to provide clean water facilities to the community.

"We also provide 5,000 tons this year to ensure that people who must be helped have access to clean water as part of facing El Nino," he said.

At the event, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung received the MURI Record award for the transformation and improvement of clean water services in Jakarta. According to Pramono, the award is not the main goal, but rather an acknowledgment of efforts to expand access to clean water for the community.

"For me, the MURI record seemed to give an appreciation for what we are doing. But more importantly, the most important thing is that our commitment to provide assistance to people in need, it remains PAM Jaya's main target," said Pramono.

He is optimistic that the target for clean water service coverage will be achieved faster through collaboration between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, DPRD, and PAM Jaya.

In the Jakarta Water Hero 2026, PAM JAYA awarded dozens of recipients from various categories, ranging from business sector customers, community leaders, communities, hospitals, companies, organizations, regional devices, to ministries and agencies that are considered to contribute to supporting the expansion of piped water services in Jakarta.
