Old Friends, Davina Karamoy and Farhan Rasyid Become Partners in a New Film

JAKARTA - Davina Karamoy and Farhan Rasyid play roles in M. Amrul Ummami's latest film, Andai Waktu Bisa Diulang Kembali. The two are old friends but reunite in a character who likes each other.

"The challenge for me is that here I mostly have to compete with Farhan, with Faiz, where Farhan is my old friend. Whereas here we have to have a love interest where I as an introverted child, he is extrovert," said Davina Karamoy in East Jakarta on Friday, June 26.

"The challenge is to hold back laughter, that's for me. Like sometimes I like to switch off to Davinanya, like me and Farhan who are like 'Han, where are you from?' like this, whereas in the film it's like 'Faiz, oh my God' like that. So it's like 'What the hell?' sometimes you see it," he explained.

On the other hand, Farhan Rasyid explained, "I'm very lucky to play with Davina, my friend. We talk about our personal lives and projects so the shooting environment is very fun. Sometimes I come to the location very introverted but I feel the energy is very positive to easily convey on screen.

Davina also felt that the production went smoothly because of the deepening during the script reading process and was assisted by the crew and actors, especially Vonny Anggraini as the mother and Farhan Rasyid as her opponent.

"For emotional and other things that have been discussed during the reading process. So if you say it's hard or not, thank God it's smooth, it's not that hard. It's the reading process itself that is quite exhausting so that we can breakdown the character of Dinar as much as possible," said Davina Karamoy.

In addition, Davina admitted that her character needed an emotional side in playing her character as Dinar.

"His emotions are sad, yes human, make sure to see, especially with the resemblance of Dinar and Davina who are quite close to the mother. That's it. So I kind of took the similarities, but I was looking for a different output. Not Davina's output if you see this situation like this, but if Dinar won't be like this," said Davina Karamoy.

"If it's with Farhan, we're behind the set, we laugh a lot, maybe, we're really friends, but once we're on the set, I've also seen Farhan as Faiz. And he really totally brought Faiz," he continued.

"The energy always flows in me, so that's probably one of the things that makes me easier to channel my extrovert on this screen later. And thanks to the production for making this shoot so much fun," added Farhan Rasyid.

The film "If Time Could Be Repeated" will be shown in Indonesian cinemas starting July 30, 2026.
