Angry and Jealous, Taufik Hidayat's Reason for Captivity to Brutal Abuse of His Lover

BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police has arrested Taufik Hidayat, a suspect in the kidnapping and abuse case against a woman with the initials YTR, with layered articles whose threat of punishment reaches 12 years in prison.

West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan said the suspect was charged with Article 466 paragraph (2), Article 451, Article 446 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 126 paragraph (2), and Article 23 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (KUHP).

"If you look at the incident and his actions, this suspect has committed an unnatural and sadistic act. We condemn this kind of violence together. Therefore, the West Java Police will maximize the application of the article so that the suspect receives a proportionate punishment," said Rudi at the West Java Police Headquarters, Bandung, Friday, June 26, reported by ANTARA.

He hopes for the support of all parties so that the legal process runs optimally.

"This is asking for support from everyone so that the violence committed by the suspect gets a proportionate punishment," he said.

Rudi also expressed his concern about the case experienced by the victim. According to him, women should feel safe and protected from all forms of violence.

"We express our deep sorrow and concern over this incident. Our women should be in a safe and protected condition. This is our common concern," he said.

In this case, the West Java Police have named Taufik Hidayat as a suspect for allegedly kidnapping and mistreating YTR at a boarding house in the Cileunyi area, Bandung Regency.

Investigators suspect that the act lasted for several years and was repeated because the suspect felt upset and jealous of the victim.

As a result of the act, the victim suffered serious injuries to several parts of the body that caused vision impairment, difficulty speaking, and inability to walk.

"This is done repeatedly because of resentment and jealousy towards the victim," said Rudi.
