JAFF Market 2026 Targets Investors and Global Markets for Indonesian Films

JAKARTA - The government encourages the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market 2026 to be a meeting place for Indonesian film industry players with investors, distributors, streaming platforms, and international partners. The hope is that more Indonesian films will penetrate the global market.

Minister of Culture Fadli Zon conveyed this at the launch of JAFF Market 2026 at Midaz Senayan Golf, Jakarta, Friday, June 26.

Fadli said that JAFF Market continues to show progress since it was first held in 2024. According to Fadli, the increasing number of participants each year reflects the industry's need for a platform that brings together filmmakers, producers, directors, screenwriters, investors, distributors, and partners from various countries.

"JAFF Market is an important part of the sustainability of the Indonesian film ecosystem. Platforms like this bring together all stakeholders in the industry so that they open up more opportunities for collaboration and development of national films," said Fadli.

He assessed that the Indonesian film industry still has a large growth space. With a population of almost 290 million, the national cinema screen needs are still far from ideal. This condition also opens up investment opportunities in the film sector.

According to Fadli, the culture of watching in the cinema also needs to be maintained. In addition to providing a viewing experience, the cinema also helps to drive the cultural economy and become a space for community interaction.

Fadli said the government continues to strengthen the film ecosystem from upstream to downstream. This effort is carried out through the development of human resources, improvement of script writing quality, and support for films with historical, educational, and children's themes.

"We want Indonesian films not only to be hosts in their own country, but also to be increasingly known and watched by the world community through rich, diverse, and strong Indonesian stories," he said.

JAFF Market Market Director Linda Gozali said that her party would continue to develop JAFF Market as a space for collaboration in the film industry. According to Linda, strengthening the film ecosystem also needs to be supported by the addition of infrastructure, including cinemas that are able to provide a cinematic experience for the public.

JAFF Market is an industry platform that is part of the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF). This forum brings together filmmakers, production houses, investors, distributors, streaming platforms, funding institutions, and creative industry players from various countries.

JAFF Market 2026 will be held on November 28-30, 2026 at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC), Yogyakarta. This year, the organizers have prepared a number of programs, including the JAFF Future Project, JAFF IP Connection, Talent Day, Film & Market Conference, and Market Screening to expand opportunities for collaboration, funding, intellectual property development, and distribution of Indonesian films to international markets.
