YouTube Launches Feature to Speed Up Shorts Playbacks

JAKARTA - YouTube has launched a new feature to speed up viewing in Shorts. Google deliberately launched this new feature to provide a much more concise viewing experience.

Google says that this feature is based on user feedback. Thanks to this new feature, users now have full control over speeding up video playback according to their preferences.

"Speed settings have been one of the most requested features from the Shorts community. Now you can double the playback speed on a Short to absorb information faster," Google said, quoted on Friday, June 26.

In addition to speeding up videos, Google also introduced audio controls that make it easier for users to be in public spaces. Viewers can now mute the sound by simply tapping the screen to pause, then selecting the mute icon.

In the same update, YouTube also made a big decision by removing the dislike button on Shorts. This policy was taken to create a more positive ecosystem for creators.

Instead, viewers who don't like a particular content can use the 'Not Interested' option or the 'Don't recommend this channel' option. The like button for videos that previously had a thumbs up shape has also been replaced with a heart emoji icon.

Finally, YouTube also introduced 'Clean Screen Mode'. This feature is present to hide all icons and text while so that users can enjoy the content without distractions from floating objects.
