Eddie Hearn Confident Anthony Joshua Will Silence Tyson Fury
JAKARTA - Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn feels very confident that Anthony Joshua will come out on top when he finally faces Tyson Fury in a heavyweight duel that fans have been waiting for.
The fight between the two British boxers is expected to take place this year although until now the official schedule and location of the clash titled Battle of Britain has not been announced.
Hearn assessed that Joshua's preparations were going very well, especially after the former heavyweight world champion underwent training with Oleksandr Usyk, the boxer who had defeated him. He also assessed that the cooperation made Joshua ready to face a big challenge.
"I really feel that I have never been so sure that he (Anthony Joshua) will win the fight," Hearn said as reported by Sky Sport.
Hearn still recognizes Fury's quality as one of the best boxers in his division even though he is very optimistic about Joshua's victory. He calls the Gypsy King a smart, tough boxer, and will be a very difficult opponent to beat.
"This fight will not be easy because Fury is a great competitor and a great fighter," said Joshua's promoter and Matchroom boss.
Joshua is scheduled to return to the ring against Kristian Prenga on July 25, 2026. Meanwhile, Fury is also rumored to want to undergo one warm-up match, but until now he has not announced his opponent or the date of the match.
The duel between Joshua and Fury has been repeatedly planned, but has always failed to materialize. If only one of them loses in a duel before meeting, then the plan to see them clash on the ring could be gone again.
Joshua last fought in December 2021 when he knocked out (KO) Jake Paul, a YouTube star who had just made his professional boxing debut. He was then involved in a tragic accident after which killed two close friends.
Joshua's future was a puzzle as a result of the accident. He is expected to decide to retire, but then announced that he would get back in the ring.
On the other hand, Fury had announced his retirement after his second defeat in his career when he fought Usyk. He insisted on not returning to the ring, but then marked a comeback with a victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov in April 2026.
