CFD Rasuna Said Discontinued at the Peak of Jakarta's Independence Day, the DKI Provincial Government Focused on Activities in Sudirman-Thamrin
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has canceled the implementation of a motor vehicle free day (HBKB) or car free day (CFD) on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Sunday, June 28. This policy was taken because all the series of events for the 499th anniversary of Jakarta were centered in the Sudirman-Thamrin area.
DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said that in addition to the peak of Jakarta's Independence Day, on June 28, a series of Bhayangkara Day commemorations also took place, so traffic arrangements in the Sudirman-Thamrin area were needed.
According to him, CFD in the Rasuna Said area was abolished so that community activities were centered at the location of the Jakarta Independence Day celebration.
"Because all activities are concentrated in Sudirman-Thamrin, on the 28th Car Free Day in Kuningan or Rasuna Said, it will be canceled so that all of them are concentrated on Jalan Sudirman, Thamrin, and its surroundings," said Pramono at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Friday, June 26.
Not only on Sunday, the DKI Provincial Government also implemented traffic engineering on Saturday, June 27, when a series of events took place at the HI roundabout.
Pramono said traffic arrangements were enforced on a number of roads, ranging from HI Roundabout to Dukuh Atas, Jalan M.H. Thamrin, Jalan Mas Mansyur, Jalan Sutan Syahrir, Jalan Imam Bonjol, Jalan Kotabumi, Jalan Teluk Betung, to Jalan Sumenep.
"Transportation arrangements will be implemented from 14.00 to 23.00. Because from the afternoon there will be activities at HI roundabout and its surroundings which of course require closure or road arrangements," said Pramono.
On the other hand, the DKI Provincial Government also provides free public transportation services owned by the government at a symbolic rate of Rp. 1 on June 27-28 for all people who have an Indonesian ID card. This policy was taken to accommodate the high enthusiasm of the public to attend the Jakarta Independence Day celebration.
"So with this arrangement, because that day is also the day we have decided to make all transportation free of charge for one rupiah as long as you have an Indonesian ID card, not just Jakarta," said Pramono.
Pramono admitted that he received reports from the buffer area to outside the city planning to come to Jakarta to witness the 499th anniversary celebration which featured a number of musicians and public figures.
"Because the people who are interested in attending are also quite high. I received a report that people from around Jakarta, whether it's from Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang, South Tangerang, even some from outside the city, they want to attend the DKI HUT event which will be attended by several public figures or musical players whose names are quite famous," he said.
Apart from public transportation, a number of DKI Provincial Government facilities are also opened for free during the two days.
"So, for the 27th and 28th all transportation is one rupiah. Including for facilities owned by the DKI Jakarta Government, whether it is in Ragunan, in Ancol, museums and so on, in the existing GOR-GOR. As we have said, we will make it free," added Pramono.
