Many Odd-Even Issues at 28 Toll Gates, This is the Explanation of the Metro Police

JAKARTA - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the Metro Jaya Police confirmed that the odd even (gage) rule at a number of toll gates in Jakarta is not a new policy, but an old rule that directly intersects with the capital's protocol road.

This statement responds to the issue that is currently trending on social media regarding the news of the implementation of odd-even vehicle restrictions at 28 toll gates in and out of Jakarta.

"Actually, it's not a new policy. So, the point of the gate to exit and enter the road is part of the implementation of odd-even which already exists," said Director of Traffic (Dirlantas) of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Komarudin, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 26.

Komarudin explained that the regulation refers to the DKI Jakarta Governor's Regulation (Pergub) Number 88 of 2019 concerning Traffic Restrictions with Odd-Even System.

In the rules, a number of major roads such as South Gate Road, Gajah Mada, to Hayam Wuruk are required to implement odd-even.

"Therefore, toll gates that have slices or entrances that directly touch the protocol road automatically follow the applicable gage rules," he said.

Komarudin also clarified the public's misunderstanding that the restrictions apply within the free-flowing lanes.

"Not in the toll. If it's in the toll itself, it's the territory of Jasa Marga, not the odd-even enforcement," he said.

Regarding the news regarding the specific number of "28 toll gate points", Komarudin advised the public to re-check the list with the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) because regulations regarding road zoning are under the authority of the local government.

The enforcement of violators in the toll gate area is still running as usual by relying on electronic toll camera (ETLE) technology.

"If the gage is included in what is recorded (captured) by the road sections monitored by the ETLE camera. We are still referring to the rules (Pergub), there is no new rule yet," he said.

The public is also urged to continue to pay attention to traffic signs and odd-even operating schedules when going out or entering through toll gates that intersect with the restriction lane.

Previously, information circulated on social media through the @jktcreativemedia account stating that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had re-imposed the odd-even policy on a number of roads and toll gate access during this week.

"The rules are valid from Monday, June 22 to Friday, June 26 to control traffic density during rush hours," wrote the account.

The account also wrote that the odd-even implementation was carried out in two periods every working day, namely from 06.00-10.00 WIB and 16.00-21.00 WIB. This rule applies to vehicles with four or more wheels that pass through the traffic restriction area, including a number of accesses to and out of toll roads.
