Former MPR Secretary General undergoes first examination as KPK suspect for up to 10 hours 

JAKARTA - Former Secretary General of the MPR Ma'ruf Cahyono has completed his first examination as a suspect in alleged gratification at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. He was examined for almost 10 hours.

From field observation, Ma'ruf was finished being examined at around 19.50 WIB. He came to the KPK office at around 09.30 WIB.

"Yes, I was asked for my identity. Kan, the first time. So I was just asked about the task," said Ma'ruf when asked by reporters about his examination.

Ma'ruf ensured that he would follow all legal processes that were running at the KPK.

"I will wait, just follow. Anyway, we just obey," he said.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said Ma'ruf's examination was focused on confirming the evidence that investigators had collected.

"Today's examination is in the capacity of your MC as a suspect. This is still related to evidence that has also been obtained by investigators to be confirmed again, strengthened by additional evidence, how the mechanism process of procurement of goods and services carried out in the MPR RI. Also related to the alleged receipt of money made by MC brother," said Budi to reporters.

"The detention has not yet been carried out by the KPK," said Budi. Because, investigators still need time to complete the evidence before the case is transferred to the prosecution stage.

"Yes, of course, there are still processes of investigation, collection of additional evidence, so that later it will be really firm, really strong, for then to be carried out in phase 2, or to be transferred to prosecution," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK has named Ma'ruf Cahyono as a suspect in the alleged gratification case related to procurement projects in the environment of the MPR RI. He was charged with Article 12B of the Corruption Crime Law, which regulates the acceptance of gratification by state officials.

Ma'ruf has also been prevented from traveling abroad by the Directorate General of Immigration at the request of the KPK. The ban on traveling abroad is valid for six months from June 10, 2025 to support the smooth running of the investigation process.

The KPK stated that it would continue to explore information and trace the flow of funds in the case, including investigating other parties suspected of being involved in the request for project fees in the MPR RI environment.

The amount of money received as gratification by Ma'ruf is said to have reached Rp. 17 billion and could increase. This receipt is related to distribution to the printing of documents.
