Secretary General of the PB PJSI: The Kasad Cup Judo National Games is a Training Event to Find Athlete Seeds
JAKARTA - The Kasad Judo National Championship is a coaching event to find promising athletes, in addition to being a fixed calendar of the Indonesian Judo Association (PB PJSI).
This was said by the Secretary General of the PB PJSI Regina Lefrandt Vega, on the sidelines of the opening of the 2026 Kasad Judo Cup XVI National Games at the Kostrad Infantry Division Headquarters-I, Cilodong, Depok, West Java.
"The Kasad Cup is part of the PB PJSI calendar and is (a collection of) points for (athletes to appear) at the PON (National Sports Week)," explained Regina, Thursday (25/6).
"Therefore, many of the Provincial Board of Directors participated," he said.
Furthermore, the Secretary General of the PB PJSI explained, the Chief of Staff of the TNI AD, General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, never stopped carrying out training programs for the advancement of Judo sports in the country.
"This national event is an event for coaching to find seeds (achieving athletes)," explained the Secretary General of the PB PJSI.
"He never stopped for the Judo progress program," he said.
Regarding preparations for the 2026 Asian Games, Regina revealed that there were seven athletes who would be sent to compete in the event in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan in September-October.
As preparation, the athletes who will depart also participated in the 16th Kasad Cup Judo National Games, in addition to participating in the Taipei Open international tournament in July, which was followed by a Training Camp in Japan before competing in the 2026 Asian Games.
To note, the 16th Kasad Judo Cup 2026 was held for four days on June 25-28 at the Kartika GOR, Divif-I Kostrad, and was attended by participants from the general and TNI-Polri ranks.
From the general group, 606 participants were recorded from 26 Provincial Governments, with details of the Senior category 249 participants, Junior 166 participants, and Cadet 155 participants. Of that number, 570 athletes will compete in the Shiai Number and 36 athletes (16 pairs) will compete in the Kata Number.
Meanwhile, in the TNI-Polri category, 186 participants were recorded consisting of 137 sons and 49 daughters from 54 units throughout Indonesia.
