KPK Investigates Alleged Plotting of the Era Budi Karya Transportation Ministry Project During the Investigation of the Former Director of DJKA

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating allegations of arranging auctions, plotting to collect fees for railway construction projects at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation. This process is carried out by examining Danto Restyawan as the Director of Traffic DJKA Ministry of Transportation for the period 2019-2021.

Danto underwent an examination at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta today, June 25.

"Investigators are investigating the witness's knowledge regarding the alleged auction arrangement, plotting packages for certain contractors at the Ministry of Transportation. As well as the collection of project fees," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters through his written statement, Thursday, June 25.

Budi said the alleged practice of arranging projects that are being investigated by investigators did not only occur in the DJKA environment. Investigators also explored the possibility of similar practices on other projects at the Ministry of Transportation.

However, Budi did not want to talk much about the involvement of the former Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi in the process of plotting the project.

"Investigators are still continuing to deepen," he said.

As previously reported, the KPK issued a new investigation order (sprindik) regarding the alleged bribery of the railway line development project of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). Current investigators will focus on investigating alleged corruption that is suspected to have occurred in the Sumatra region.

However, no suspects have been determined in this case because they used a general investigation order (sprindik).

The development was carried out after the KPK named Sudewo as a former member of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2020-2024 as a suspect in the bribery case for the DJKA railway development project of the Ministry of Transportation for East Java.

Sudewo is currently a defendant and is undergoing trial at the Semarang Corruption Court. In addition to bribing DJKA, he was also charged with extortion while serving as Pati Regent.
