East Lombok District Attorney Investigates Gratification of Former Regent and Secretary of the Regional Government in the Chromebook Case

MATARAM - The East Lombok District Attorney's Office (Kejari), West Nusa Tenggara, opened a new page in the 2022 fiscal year's Chromebook laptop procurement corruption case by starting to investigate the alleged gratification of the regent and regional secretary for the 2018-2023 term.

Head of the East Lombok District Attorney's Office, I Gusti Ayu Agung Fitria Chandrawati, said the investigation conducted officially through the letter of command was part of the prosecutor's commitment to eradicating corruption crimes thoroughly.

"So, we have developed Chromebooks by issuing the investigation order," said Gusti Ayu, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, June 25.

He did not deny that this investigation was a follow-up to the order of the panel of judges delivered in the verdict of the six defendants.

Not only the first-instance court judge, the development order is also implied in the appeal verdict of six defendants at the West Nusa Tenggara High Court.

With this, Gusti Ayu ensured that her party was now studying the verdict of the defendants. Data collection and evidence were included in the investigation.

"If later there are names in the development process, yes we will follow up," he said.

In the verdict of the last two defendants in the West Nusa Tenggara High Court's Chromebook corruption, Monday (22/6), the panel of judges headed by Ahmad Yasin conveyed in the order that the prosecutor should develop the involvement of other parties.

There are two people who are openly said to have enjoyed the corrupt money that has caused a financial loss to the state of IDR 9.2 billion.

They are Sukiman Azmy who is now a former Regent of East Lombok along with Muhammad Juaini Taofik who has returned to his position as the Regional Secretary of East Lombok Regency.

In the ruling, the judge also said Sukiman received Rp1.3 billion and Juaini Taofik worth Rp500 million.

"Order the public prosecutor to follow up on the facts of this trial by conducting an in-depth and expanded investigation of Sukiman Azmy, the former Regent of East Lombok, and Muhammad Juaini Taofik, the East Lombok Secretary of State," said the presiding judge.

The six defendants who have carried out the legal process to the appeal level are the former Secretary of the East Lombok Education and Culture Office, As'ad; commitment maker official (PPK), Amrulloh; Director of CV Cerdas Mandiri Salmukin; marketing of PT Jepe Press Media Utama, M Jaosi alias Ojik; Director of PT Temprina Media Grafika, Libert Hutahaean; and Director of PT Dinamika Indo Media, Lia Anggawari.
