Gus Yaqut Dispatched to Hospital, Apresiasi Wife to KPK Decision

JAKARTA - Eny Retno Yaqut, wife of the Minister of Religion for the period 2020-2024 Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (Gus Yaqut) appreciates the steps of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) which provided assistance to her husband at the Kramat Jati Polri Hospital, Jakarta. Eny Retno assessed the KPK's decision to send Gus Yaqut to the hospital on Wednesday (24/6/) as the right step because his condition was indeed severe.

"Gus Yaqut apparently had to be hospitalized because he had severe health problems in the past few days, such as in his digestive tract. We are grateful to the KPK medical team who acted quickly by referring my husband to the National Police Hospital for further treatment," said Eny, Wednesday, June 24.

Eny himself learned about Gus Yaqut's condition on Monday morning during the visit. Indeed, over the past few weeks Gus Yaqut has often complained of difficulty defecating (BAB), stomach pain and nausea. In fact, the last five days he also had a fever and chills. The KPK Detention Team has also referred him to the hospital for further examination.

During the follow-up examination at the National Police Hospital on Wednesday (24/6/2026), Dr. Eko Ristiyanto, Sp. B-KBD, the person in charge of the examination, suggested that there should be immediate medical action. The doctor also asked for a complete blood test, MRI and others first.

Eny revealed that the hospitalization was carried out by the KPK also on the recommendation of a team of doctors at the Polri Hospital.

"Hopefully this effort will be smooth and Gus Yaqut will recover again. Thank you to everyone who never stops giving support and prayers to my husband," explained Eny.

Member of the Legal Advisory Team Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Mellisa Anggraini also expressed gratitude to the KPK for providing assistance on the basis of medical, humanitarian, and protection of the right to health for his client. According to him, Gus Yaqut is known to have been under continuous monitoring and medical treatment by specialist doctors.

Gus Yaqut has been detained by the KPK since March 12, 2026. On June 9, 2026, KPK investigators extended the detention for the next 30 days. (*)
