Whitesky Group Pelopori Urban Air Mobility and eVTOL Development in Indonesia
JAKARTA - Whitesky Group strengthens its role as one of the pioneers of Urban Air Mobility (UAM) and Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) development in Indonesia through the implementation of Welcoming The Future of Air Mobility at Cengkareng Heliport, Tangerang.
Entering the second day of the event, the focus of discussion is no longer limited to the introduction of eVTOL technology, but rather shifts to how Indonesia can prepare an ecosystem that supports the implementation of Urban Air Mobility as part of the future of national transportation.
As a company that develops air mobility infrastructure through Cengkareng Heliport, Whitesky Group assesses that Indonesia has a great opportunity to take a role in the development of Advanced Air Mobility in the region. With its characteristics as an archipelago country, urban growth, and increasing connectivity needs, Indonesia needs various mobility solutions that can answer future challenges more efficiently and integrated.
Founder and CEO of Whitesky Group, Denon Prawiraatmadja, said that the development of Urban Air Mobility is not only about new air vehicles, but about how to build a transportation ecosystem that is able to connect with community needs.
"Urban Air Mobility cannot be built by one party. It requires collaboration between the government, regulators, industry, academia, and technology developers so that this innovation can develop safely, relevantly, and provide real benefits to the community," said Denon Prawiraatmadja, in a statement, Wednesday, June 24.
According to Denon, the success of the development of eVTOL in Indonesia will be determined by the readiness of regulations, infrastructure, safety systems, human resources, and integration with other modes of transportation that have already developed.
In addition to keynote speeches and presentation sessions from stakeholders, this activity also presents a panel discussion that brings together the government, transportation organizations, academics, industry players, and technology developers to discuss Indonesia's readiness for the era of Advanced Air Mobility and Urban Air Mobility.
The discussion covers various important aspects ranging from regulations, safety, infrastructure development, transportation integration, talent development, to opportunities for the implementation of air mobility technology in Indonesia. Support for the development of Urban Air Mobility also comes from ITS Indonesia.
ITS Indonesia Secretary General, Yoga Adiwinarto, said that Advanced Air Mobility is part of the future of mobility that needs to start being prepared for implementation in Indonesia.
According to him, Urban Air Mobility can be one solution to answer the challenges of community mobility in increasingly complex urban areas.
This view was also reinforced by Prof. Ir. Bambang Susantono, M.C.P., M.S.C.E., Ph.D., Chair of Braintrust Jakarta Urban Knowledge Hub, who assessed that technological developments almost always move faster than the ability of regulations to keep up with them.
Therefore, Indonesia needs to start preparing governance, infrastructure, and supporting ecosystems early so that it is able to adopt various future mobility innovations responsibly.
In his presentation, Prof. Bambang also highlighted the importance of Intelligent Transport System as the backbone of digital in building a wider multi-modal transportation system.
According to him, the integration between air and land mobility through data, digital connectivity, traffic management, synchronization of vertiports and transportation hubs, and operational communication will be an important factor in creating more efficient and sustainable mobility.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology of the Ministry of Creative Economy/Creative Economy Agency of the Republic of Indonesia, Muhammad Neil El Himam, who was present on behalf of the Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya, expressed his appreciation for the Whitesky Group's steps in introducing the concept of Advanced Air Mobility, Urban Air Mobility, and eVTOL technology as part of the future of Indonesian transportation.
According to him, the development of air mobility technology not only brings transportation innovation, but also opens up new economic opportunities, strengthens national competitiveness, encourages the birth of superior talent, and creates a space for collaboration between the technology sector, creative industries, and transportation.
Through the implementation of Welcoming The Future of Air Mobility at Cengkareng Heliport, Whitesky Group confirms its commitment to continue to encourage cross-sector collaboration in building the Indonesian Urban Air Mobility ecosystem.
The company believes that the success of the development of eVTOL and Urban Air Mobility is not only determined by technology, but also by regulatory readiness, infrastructure, talent, and synergy of all stakeholders.
By bringing together governments, regulators, industry, academia, transportation organizations, and technology developers in one collaborative space, Whitesky Group hopes that Indonesia can take a more active role in the development of Urban Air Mobility in the region and become part of the future of global mobility.
