President Prabowo's determination, Food Self-sufficiency Next
Gorontalo - President Prabowo Subianto emphasized that the achievement of food self-sufficiency is not a momentary achievement, but a foundation for long-term food independence.
This was conveyed by President Prabowo Subianto in his remarks at the peak event of the National Contact Week (PENAS) and the 2026th Annual Contact Week for Farmers and Fishermen (KTNA) which took place at the David-Tony GOR, Limboto District, Gorontalo Regency, Wednesday, June 24.
President Prabowo also said that in Indonesian history, there was only one food self-sufficiency, in 1984 and lasted for one year. However, President Prabowo emphasized that he did not want food self-sufficiency only in one year, but continued.
President Prabowo emphasized that the results that are beginning to be seen today are the fruit of hard work that has been carried out for some time. He reminded that the agricultural and plantation sector requires a long process before producing economic benefits.
President Prabowo also touched on the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) Program which he said had a direct relationship with the welfare of farmers, fishermen, and the nutritional needs of the community. He responded to parties who still questioned the urgency of the program.
President Prabowo considers food needs to be the most basic problem that must be met by the country. Therefore, President Prabowo rejects the assumption that there are other issues that are more urgent than meeting the food needs of the community.
