SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN Ready to Accommodate 477 Students in the New School Year

JAKARTA - Taruna Nusantara High School, Capital City Campus (IKN), East Kalimantan, is preparing to receive 477 students in the 2026/2027 school year.

A total of 237 students who will move up to grade XI are scheduled to arrive at IKN on July 9, 2026. They are the first batch of IKN Taruna Nusantara I High School, which has been undergoing education at Taruna Nusantara Magelang High School because the IKN campus is still in the construction phase.

Meanwhile, 240 new students in class X will first attend the Basic Discipline Education (PDK) in Magelang for three months before joining the IKN campus in early October 2026.

"When this school started to accept students, the building was still under construction, so the students first had to study in Magelang. This year they will move up to grade XI and start occupying the campus in IKN," said Head of Taruna Nusantara IKN High School Rudi Setiawan quoted from an official statement, Wednesday, June 24.

Rudi said that the construction of SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN was carried out in three stages.

The first phase has been completed 100 percent and includes classrooms, laboratories, the Main Hall as well as male and female dormitories to support the needs of two classes of students who will occupy the campus this year.

The second phase of construction includes the principal's and assistant principal's official residence, the putra house, the ceremony field, the polyclinic, the laundry, the car garage, and the garbage disposal site, which is targeted to be completed in October or November 2026.

Then, the third phase of construction will focus on supporting facilities, including the Pancasila Hall, a sports center, swimming pool, sports field, indoor sports building, and worship facilities.

"We are trying to complete all the construction of SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN in 2027," he said.

The administrative staff arrived at Nusantara on Monday, June 23, 2026, as part of preparations to welcome hundreds of students who will study at the campus.

In the environment of Taruna Nusantara High School, the term pamong is used to refer to educators, caregivers and supporting personnel who play a role in the learning process, character development and the operation of boarding schools.

"Administrative supplies have arrived at IKN. Some have come by air since June 21, while those using the sea route along with materials, operational vehicles and school supplies arrived today. Currently, all administrative supplies are at IKN," said Rudi.

According to Rudi, the administrative assistant is tasked with supporting school operations, while the teaching and care assistant is responsible for the learning process and student guidance.

Currently, SMA Taruna Nusantara IKN has 37 teaching and nursing assistants and 72 administrative assistants. This number will continue to be adjusted to the development of the school and the addition of student numbers in the coming years.

Meanwhile, the teaching assistants and caregivers are still undergoing training and training in Magelang and are scheduled to join the IKN on June 25, 2026.
