TNI AL Disrupts the Smuggling of 1.8 Tons of Tin Ore in Bangka
JAKARTA - TNI AL personnel from the Indonesian Navy and the PKH Task Force thwarted the smuggling of 1.8 tons of dry tin ore in the Pangkul Beach area, Central Bangka Regency.
The arrest began when Lanal Babel personnel were conducting patrols in the coastal area of Pangkul Beach.
"While patrolling, the team found a suspicious bonfire. The team then conducted an inspection," said the Commander of the Fleet Command (Koarmada) Vice Admiral TNI Denih Hendrata as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, June 24.
After being examined, Lanal Babel personnel found two units of cars parked on the beach and a small transport ship nearby.
TNI personnel, said Denih, immediately secured the two cars and one boat.
Not only that, the personnel also arrested four people, namely ES (24), S (38), TS (40) and MI (40) who were hiding inside the ship.
"Inside the ship, the team found 37 sacks of dry tin ore with a total weight of around 1.8 tons," said Denih.
Lanal personnel then seized the lead and detained the four suspected perpetrators found on the ship for the needs of the officers' examination.
This arrest adds to the long list of illegal goods that have been carried out by the Indonesian Navy after previously confiscating 137 bags of tin sand with a total weight of 6.165 tons and an estimated value of around Rp5.93 billion in Bangka Regency, Sunday (21/6).
Denih ensured that his party would continue to tighten surveillance of the sea area to prevent illegal smuggling of goods.
